We partner with one of the longest-running and professional surf schools on the Island. All of the staff speak fantastic English (most of them ARE English!) With a fully qualified and insured group of surf instructors, you’ll enjoy an amazing surfing lesson!

All of our guests have loved their surfing lessons and it’s a chance to learn a new skill!

There’s no pressure to go into deeper water and the beaches selected by the instructors are ALWAYS suitable for beginners – you won’t find yourself being dragged into huge waves!

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a relative newcomer to the water sports world. On the SUP lesson you’ll be taken by boat to the neighbouring Lobos Island where you’ll paddle in crystal clear, calm bays.

The water here is turquoise, wonderfully warm and it’s an experience you’ll love! It truly is a tropical island with flat-calm bays. It’s perfect for a gentle paddle around.

SUP is really beginner-friendly too, so even if you’re brand new to the sport you’ll have a great time!


One of the highlights of our week is the bike ride – we take the group on a guided ride across the north shore of the Island, taking in some exciting downhill stretches and plenty of amazing scenery.

Part way through the ride we hike up one of the many volcanoes on the island, taking in the spectacular views from the top.

The ride is held at the pace of the slowest rider, so is beginner friendly. There are a few hills, but nothing too strenuous.

Pilates on beach


As with yoga, our Pilates classes take part either outside or in the studio. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy some core-specific exercise and therapy.

Pilates is a therapy-based movement system that teaches you how to breathe and contract muscles more effectively. The benefits cross over to other areas of your health, fitness and general life.

All of our Pilates classes are suitable for beginners, intermediates and advanced.


Conditions dependent, we’ll do our yoga classes either outside in the sunshine or a purpose-built yoga studio. All our Yoga classes are taught by very experienced teachers and are suitable for all levels of ability.

Our yoga classes are fit to the needs of the group, helping you relax, unwind and recover.

We mix different styles of yoga so our guests can enjoy different types of classes. The yoga has an important role to play in our offering – it’s a huge part of the recovery and relaxation element of our retreat.

Gym Sessions

Active Retreat gym sessions take place in a local CrossFit gym, which we hire privately. It’s well-equipped and perfect for a group our size. The sessions are held by Steve Hoyles, who is both a qualified personal trainer and weight lifting coach. All gym sessions are scaled to the ability of the individuals.

It doesn’t matter if you are a gym beginner or a seasoned pro, you’ll have a workout that will challenge you as hard as you like!

Circuit Training

We offer a variety of circuit classes at the Active Retreat. These classes are either done on site or in the world famous Corralejo sand dunes, depending on the type of class we are doing that day.

We mix a number of different approaches into our circuits, meaning the group will experience a whole host of different circuit class styles. The classes will challenge you and improve your fitness dramatically!

Our classes are varied based on the time of the week and the energy levels of the group!

Dune Running

One of the great things about our location is the wonderful training environment. Corralejo has stunning sand dunes a very short ride away, so we use those to our advantage!

The dune running workout is an amazing calorie-burning high intensity interval training session.

We mix up our training environments and take advantage of the scenery all around us. You didn’t come on holiday to a beautiful island so you could spend all day in and indoor gym!
